Happy Weekend!

I'm so glad I was able to spend some time in the garden on this lovely day, but I am sorry that the growing season is over and we won't be getting any more tomatoes or peppers.  Richard expanded the recycling area to make room for our new cart while I worked on pruning back the overzealous blackberry bushes, and took out the veggies to get the raised bed ready to rest for the winter.

Blackberries! Well, no more till next year.
There are so many lovely plants on our land, and I'm happy to say I have yet to kill any but I'm really just learning as I go.

I already know that next year we'll plant only one cherry tomato and one early girl, and that I need some lessons on growing eggplant before I try that experiment again.  And I think next year I'll leave the pepper growing to my in-laws.

Now if I just get cleaned up I'll be ready to go to a dinner party tonight!  Happy weekend!

Lovely fall days

Today was busy with errands, but was interrupted by the lovely surprise of my husband having the chance to come out on his lunch hour to meet up for a bite to eat.

Wicket and I went on two walks, enjoying the newly crisp air of fall in Milwaukee.  This little pup certainly gives me an extra excuse to explore our neighborhood; she's always ready to go new places and meet new people.

Even as I type she's rubbing up against my feet begging for more petting.  It's all I can do not to abandon my projects for the night and go curl up with a book and my puppy.  But Richard will be on the couch for the Packer game soon enough and she'll be just as happy to snuggle with him.

Really loving: Weekly To-Do from A Pair of Pears

At the moment I'm really loving this adorable weekly to-do list from A Pair of Pears, head over to their website for the free printable.

Weekly To Do List from A Pair of Pears

Today, for the fourth Sunday in a row, I printed mine out and sat down to pencil in my week.  There's just something about a pretty looking list that helps me get things done.  I've even got mine hanging on one of the clipboards above my desk.  Peruse more of their fun, free printables here.

Happy Weekend!

This week has been ridiculously busy!  Monday running errands, Tuesday working with Mom on getting her jewelry business, SuziaPearls, up and running.  Then Wednesday it was off to work where the kids and I kept ourselves busy inside for eleven hours while the rain poured down.  Thursday and Friday were filled with more running around and work, but now here we are at the weekend and I'm grateful to be able to breathe and enjoy my tea, if only for a little while.

Happy Weekend!

Personal Mission Statement

As my days become more and more scheduled, with jobs and house projects and visits with friends, there are some goals I want to set for my personal life.  The following are some everyday habits I'd like to develop, redevelop, or continue.

Make time for tea.
I have fallen out of my routine of tea with breakfast (and after lunch, and before dinner) everyday and I'd like to get that back.  Preferably it will be a sort of meditation time, or break from the day, but having tea while working is permitted too.

Create something.
Anything creative, so long as it leads to progress.  A photograph, collage, notes or plans for projects.  For the garden, for the house or for my own joy.  I just want to create, to make something with my own hands.

Play and walk with the dog.
Self-explanitory - she's energetic and maybe that'll rub off on me.

Read.
Books preferably, news articles frequently, and yes, even blog posts count.

Write.
I love words and I really want to make sure to flex my writing muscle as often as possible.  Again, blog posts totally count.

Make a daily plan.
If you can't tell by the very first post on my very new blog: I really like to make lists.  It helps me to accomplish all that I hope for in my days.

I know there will be days when all I have time for is running from one job to the next, but if there is just one goal I want to keep even on those days it is most certainly to make time for tea.
