Thunderstorms and garden plans

Today began with thunderstorms, but now I'm glad I didn't use the dreary day as an excuse to start in on the new season of Arrested Development as I'm sure I would not have been able to tear myself away now that the sun is beginning to peak through. Theoretically the day will still be rather uneventful and spent with the many mundane activities of keeping a home.

We used the long weekend to celebrate a cousin's birthday on Sunday, and despite the dreariness of Monday we laid down sod and planted the vegetables in our raised garden bed.  Here's to a summer of tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers.  Hopefully next year we'll have the other bed prepared and we'll add squash and pumpkins to the mix.

Tulips and Summer Rain

Yesterday our tulips were basking in the summer sun and today they are getting a much needed summer shower.  The rain is also cooling our house down to a lovely temperature and our rain barrels are well on they're way to being filled which bodes well for our vegetable garden this summer.

Another year older and a little list of news

I have not updated in a rather long time because I've felt a little uncomfortable sharing very personal issues that have really been the only thing going on in my life.

My spine issues have multiplied, but I've been doing all that I can to better them.  It's slowing me down, and in a lot of ways I feel like I'm failing because I can't accomplish all of my goals and objectives.

Last week was my birthday, I'm a whole 27-years-old and that much closer to 30.  I celebrated with my family and it was a lovely time.  My parents gifted me with a gorgeous pearl necklace and ring along with my favorite shade of green jade in the form of a bracelet.  My in-laws included a rather generous gift card to Bed, Bath, and Beyond that I can't wait to put to good use for all the little things on my wishlist for the house.

The Forensics season went very well, and really bolstered my bank account.  My duties should be changing next year, and I'm very excited about it.

This summer Richard and I will be chaperoning a ten-day exchange trip for the students to Germany.  I can't wait.  I'm so excited for the new experiences and hopefully a side trip to a little aquarium inside a hotel.

I was able to go on my annual trip out to see Jennie and for the first time we made it to the very end of our road trip route for the 100-mile yard sale...at which point we realized that doing the entire route is just a little too much for a two day road trip.  So I think we have figured out all the best places to stop and our turning point for future years.

That's all that is on my mind at the moment, but hopefully I can get back to regular updates soon.
